It started with people who lived here.
PLT was founded by landowners and neighbours in West Central Idaho who watched subdivision arrive and decided the working landscape was worth keeping. The first property taken into fee title was Peterson Forest.
Three decades on, the job is the same one: hold the promises already made, and make new ones where a family wants their ground to stay what it is.

Accreditation by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission means an independent body has reviewed how PLT handles its finances, its easements and its stewardship obligations. It is renewed, not granted once.
